World Teacher's Day

Internationally 5 October

Australia 30 October

World Teachers' Day is observed globally on October 5.  It commemorates the anniversary of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers.

In Australia World Teachers Day is celebrated on October 30.

In the Northern Territory, World Teacher's Day is marked by the NT Excellence Awards, recognising and celebrating outstanding teachers in NT Government schools.

"It is a day to celebrate how teachers are transforming education but also to reflect on the support they need to fully deploy their talent and vocation, and to rethink the way ahead for the profession globally." (UNESCO)
