National Volunteer Week

National Volunteer Week

May each year

Established in 1989, National Volunteer Week is the premier celebration of volunteers and volunteerism in Australia and provides an opportunity to say thank you to the millions of Australians who volunteer.

It serves two primary purposes:

  1. Highlighting the crucial role volunteers play in our communities
  2. Encouraging new individuals to experience the rewards of volunteering

Volunteering is a really powerful way of staying connected to community.

Most of our volunteers are retired or semi retired. Many live in Darwin but others are now relocated interstate.

One of the more well-known benefits of volunteering is the impact on the community. Volunteering allows you to connect to your community and make it a better place. Even helping out with the smallest tasks can make a real difference to the lives of people, animals, and organizations in need.

  • New skills & valuable work experience.
  • Making new friends.
  • Better physical & mental health and wellbeing.
  • Giving something back.
  • Improving your confidence.
  • Sense of connection to others in the community.
  • Improve how things work for the better.
  • Show your commitment.
