National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day 2026 - Living our Truth

This year’s theme for National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day is Living Our Truth. It celebrates the voices, stories and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and communities. It highlights truth-telling as central to identity, belonging and cultural strength. It honours Elders and communities for sharing knowledge with future generations. This year especially recognises children as emerging leaders who are confident, proud and ready to carry these strong stories and voices forward.

Celebrate with storytelling, cultural learning, art exhibitions, sports days and community gatherings that create spaces where children are seen, heard and celebrated and loved for who they are.
